Frequently Asked Questions
What is Somatic Illumination?
Somatic Illumination is an integrative soma-therapy (body based therapeutic approaches) that combine body-based awareness, emotional release work, nervous system regulation, and trauma-informed care. These sessions support clients in unwinding patterns of tension, stress, dysregulation, chronic illness, and emotional blockages.
What can somatic therapy help with?
Clients often come for support with:
Long-term ill health or burnout
Anxiety, overwhelm, or shutdown
Stress and trauma recovery
Emotional numbness or reactivity
Chronic tension or pain
Feeling disconnected from body, purpose, or belonging
Do I need previous experience with somatic work?
No experience is necessary. Sessions are personalised and paced gently so you can explore at a rhythm that feels safe and grounded.
Is somatic therapy a replacement for medical or psychological treatment?
No. Somatic therapy is a complementary approach and can work alongside your existing medical or therapeutic support. I am always happy to collaborate with healthcare providers when helpful.
What happens in a session?
Sessions may include:
Somatic movement or micro-movements
Guided sensing and embodiment practices
Nervous system regulation tools
Trauma-informed dialogue
Breathwork and grounding
Somatic Parts work
Somatic inquiry and emotional processing
Every session is uniquely tailored to you.
How long is each session?
Most sessions are 60 minutes unless otherwise arranged.
How many sessions will I need?
This varies. Some clients receive deep benefit from 6 sessions, while others choose long-term somatic support and integration as the work is slow, gentle but absolutely transformational and it goes at your body’s natural intelligent pace. We can discuss a recommended plan after your first session.
